Annual June Event
Our annual June event encompasses World Ocean Day on 8th June. In 2021 we had over 70 brilliant community and family groups covering the coastline between Berwick-upon-Tweed and Edinburgh over one weekend. In 2022 we built on this success and extended the clean up the coast to Aberdeen! This year we will also be organising a clean on the west coast so by 2025 we can hopefully have the whole coastline covered.
To get involved we ask people to pick a spot on the coast they would like to tackle, then pop a pin in our map to show where you’ll be (use the ‘add marker’ button on the top right). You can add in more details such as time and meeting place if other volunteers are welcome to join you: https://getethermap.org/m/scottish-coastal-clean-up-2023
5 Year Plan
2021 – Berwick-upon-Tweed to Edinburgh

We have set up Facebook Groups for the different coastal areas: Inverness to Queensferry and Edinburgh to Berwick – upon – Tweed, join them to be kept up to date with the latest news and to connect with others in your area.
Beach Blitz
As well as our annual June event, we hold various other cleans throughout the year to target identified litter hotspots around the Scottish coast. In April 2022 we successfully removed 75m3 of marine detritus off the Isle of Ulva over one weekend. This year we will be running a monthly beach blitz starting with Skye on 20th – 23rd April, Mull on 11th – 14th May, and the Rhins of Galloway 8-11th June.
If you know of any coastal areas that are particularly badly affected by litter that would benefit from having a team of volunteers carry out a beach blitz then drop an email to info@caledonianenvironmental.co.uk
